August Monthly Giving Update
“Fear not, little flock, for it is your Father’s good pleasure to give you the kingdom. Sell your possessions, and give to the needy. Provide yourselves with moneybags that do not grow old, with a treasure in the heavens that does not fail, where no thief approaches and no moth destroys. For where your treasure is, there will your heart be also.”

The Bible has over 2,000 verses that mention money. This tells me that this topic is important to both God and man. Jesus spent a lot of his ministry addressing our approach to finances and generosity. Over and over again Jesus makes it clear that God is more concerned with the heart. He teaches that outward actions can be completely empty if not properly motived. He also teaches that outward actions in regard to money reveal the reality of what is in our hearts. Jesus preaches time and time again that our treasure should be in heaven and not on earth. Generosity doesn’t come from an overflow of resources. It comes from an overflow of genuine faith that God is in control, loves us and will provide.
